You’re looking at 320ish feet and $180,000,000oish of dinghy. I realize I’m probably gonna catch some flack for liking this but...yeah.

honestly, get some plants, a big enough freezer, and some form of satellite
internet, and I could see myself getting lost for a month or so in this.
However, I like motorcycles too much to stay on the water.

Why flak. Everyone knows you like boats anyway. :P
I like it too. I get to imagine how I’d outfit it.

Jet skis are like motorcycles for the water. You could adapt.

I want to like them, but I see the price and think, ‘jesus christ are you high!?, how can that cost that much!?’.
That’s $180,000,000 for a floating house that needs a staff to function, has certain restrictions, etc...
That $180,000,000 could buy you houses (which are an investment while yacht needs inspections, has a much shorter life than a fixed house, etc...) in many countries that you like to visit, or stop at great hotels in any city you want to stay in.

What do you even do with it? This kinda boat needs a staff, doesn’t it?

I’m sure it has some speedboat/jet- ski dock built in, and jet-skis are sort of like water motorcycles...

It’s cool! It’s a ls o disgusting excess, but that doesn’t change the fact it’s cool. In any event, I like it, but I also support a wealth tax. Vote Warren!

True, although 50 mph over any kind of swell sure feels like warp 10.

Ride mopeds around the deck. Rolling seas make for an interesting variation to the standard oval track format

The entire point is if you are rich enough to be able to buy one you do as a giant middle finger to the poor. These people can wipe with $180M.

Its nice but I would rather spend 35 million and get a 212 ft Van der graaf sailing schooner.

boats are the biz. I’ve been drooling over FPB yachts lately.
Tough as shit (designed to be fully self righting and watertight completely capsized.), great hull form for rough seas, fast enough, ocean crossing range and they are classy and tough looking like an old navy ship or clipper or something and the interiors are decidedly not “baller”

The styling on it is understated, yet swoopy. Kind of Loewyish.

If you spend $180mil on anything, you’ll probably need a staff to make it function.

Ye’, I’d never (even if I had the money), spend anywhere near that much on a single thing, property or myself.

One of my cousin’s worked in that industry. Ended up being the chief steward on a Russian oligarchs yacht. Her partner is still doing it- he’s one of the chief engineers on one of the ocean-going pairs (guest boat & support vessel) in the DeVos fleet... currently in Chile I believe...

I'd rather have that than a 10 million house but doesn't look like that'll happen in this lifetime.

As in Betsy? With that kind of money why can’t she just pamper herself on that boat galavanting across the world instead of spending her time doing what she’s doing? I’d imagine the public in general and both her herself would be happier.

As in Betsy....yes. A s for why she doesn't disappear on one of the fleet , well here’s my theory: money has bought her both power and toys. As a motivated person, she prefers to play with power, no matter how unwieldy and tricksy it is.

At my old job we used to do some of the interior millwork on yachts like this. It wasn’t uncommon for those jobs to run in the 10s of millions.

For $180M it better come with ASW rockets, torpedos, a 40MM cannon and it’s own helicopter!

Hey! I’m doing well, thanks for checking in! Hope you are too!
I just haven’t been going on Oppo as much lately. I’m using other platforms for much of what I used to use
Oppo for - at the risk of sounding like lots of the bitter oldtimers who have bailed on Oppo (or just any grumpy old person ever), I just don’t feel like Oppo is what it used to be. But I still use this account when I peruse Jalopnik!
